sudoctor
Overview
sudoctor is a server health and maintenance toolkit for Debian and Ubuntu hosts. It uses Ansible over SSH to collect health reports, run explicitly enabled APT updates, and recover configured services and tmux applications. Checks run from a local computer or an optional Docker deployment, without a dedicated agent daemon on each target.
Highlights
- Check systemd services, Docker containers, tmux panes, and TCP/HTTP endpoints
- Inspect resource usage, operating system and kernel details, pending updates, and reboot requirements
- Browse host health, findings, and historical JSON snapshots in a dashboard
- Restore configured tmux sessions, windows, and panes at boot, with optional VPN and TCP readiness checks
- Run maintenance one host at a time, wait for SSH after reboots, and verify application health
- Schedule health checks and serve the dashboard with Docker Compose
The live demo uses fictional hosts and report history. Package updates require explicit per-host opt-in; recovery acts on configured services and tmux applications, while Docker containers are monitored without being automatically rebuilt or updated.
