You need curl and gpg for this step. Download the key without root privileges:
curl --fail --show-error --location https://alan-null.github.io/apt/archive-key.asc --output archive-key.asc
gpg --show-keys --with-fingerprint archive-key.asc
Public signing key ยท Full primary fingerprint: 79D57295F80AC84CF56B72872700A3BD4392E7CC
Compare the full primary fingerprint with an independently trusted copy before proceeding. Downloading the key and reading its fingerprint from this page alone does not establish authenticity.
After verifying the key, run:
sudo install -d -m 0755 /etc/apt/keyrings
sudo install -m 0644 archive-key.asc /etc/apt/keyrings/alan-null-archive.asc
sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/alan-null.sources >/dev/null <<'EOF'

The archive provides indexes for amd64 and arm64. Package availability and compatibility depend on the individual application and its supported Debian/Ubuntu versions.
Replace my-tool with the package name from the application's release documentation:
apt-cache policy my-tool
sudo apt install my-tool
Future versions appear through normal APT updates:
sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade
Remove the source configuration to stop fetching updates from this repository. Installed applications remain installed:
sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/alan-null.sources
sudo apt update
